Types of rebar based on production standards:
Rebars produced in Iran are produced according to the National Standard of Iran (ISIRI) and are exported to the domestic and foreign markets. These standards determine the technical specifications of the reinforcement in terms of diameter, length, tensile strength and other characteristics of the rebar. Based on the ISIRI standard, rebars produced in Iran are divided into four main categories and are named as follows:
• Plain or soft rebar A1 (A240)
• Spiral ribbed rebar A2 (A340)

• B500 ribbed rebars
Plain rebar:
which has no treads and is completely smooth and can withstand a tensile strength of 240 Newtons per square millimeter. This type of rebar is used for cases where there is no need for high adhesion of the rebar to the concrete. This type of rebar is also known as S240, which indicates its tensile strength.
Spiral ribbed rebar:
has spiral-shaped grooves and treads on its surface. The tensile strength of this type of rebar is 340 N/mm2. This type of spiral ribbed rebar is one of the most widely used types of reinforcement in construction. And the name of this rebar is also known as the trade name S340.
A400 ribbed rebar:
It has serrated grooves on the surface of the rebar. The tensile strength of this type of rebar is 400 Newtons per square millimeter. A400 ribbed rebar has a higher tensile strength than S340 ribbed rebar and is used for cases where we need higher tensile strength. The brand name of this product is S400.
Compound ribbed rebar:
It has a combination of spiral and cross-section ribs on the surface. The tensile strength of this type of rebar is 500 N/mm2. Compound ribbed rebar has a very high tensile strength. The trade name of compound ribbed rebar is S500.
Coiled rebar: Types of coiled rebar categories:
• Plain coil rebar
This type of coil rebar is very similar to wire coil because it does not have any tread on the surface of the rebar. Most plain coil rebar is produced and sent to the markets from size 5.5 to 10. Size 12 is produced less due to low consumption. However, sizes larger than 12 can be produced and exported according to customer requests and their requested quantity. Most sizes 5.5 to 8 coils are known as wire. Wire is a highly flexible product with many uses in most industries, especially in the construction industry.
• Ribbed coil
Ribbed coil is the same ribbed rebar that, unlike branch rebar that is produced in branches with lengths of 12 meters, after passing through the last rolling stand, when it is hot, it becomes a coil. Ribbed coil rebar is divided into two groups A2 and A3.
Low Carbon Coil Grades:
Coil rebar is known from grades SAE1006, SAE1008, RST34, RST37, 3SP.
Medium Carbon Coil Grades:
Medium carbon coil in wire form is used as a raw material in factories for making springs, wire ropes, electrical cables and also in the tire industry. Two grades 5SP and Ck45 are used to produce this type of coil rebar.
